OK, lived in Aber all my life and frequented many of the cafes in the town. Penguin Cafe and Cabin are my particular favourites and they have been here long before MG's came on the scene. I liked the Mecca Coffee place in Chalybeate Street when that first opened as it had a different approach to other coffee shops in the town and now it's MG's it's kept the identical format of the Mecca and is equally as nice. To say Costa doesn't have a place in the town is daft as we are an evolving town with plenty of room and yes I have had several coffees there and the staff are lovely and the coffee is good with plenty of variety (including skinny coffees for those weight watchers among us). The deli part of MG's has now closed and if I'm honest it was a nice concept that sadly didn't deliver.

Totally in agreement with Kay. I have been a student in Aber for the last 2 years, and MGs (both the cafe AND the deli) are absolutely fab. The staff and management have been super and ready to tend to the customers' every need. Get Costa out of Aberystwyth, the coffee is gross (possibly the worst ever). The homemade dishes in the cafe are lovely, and very filling. The coffee is reasonably priced are tastes delicious. The deli panninis and soups are always fresh and tasty.

Nice, friendly staff and a good concept, unfortunately the food is a real letdown.
Don't whatever you do order the Caesar salad rap. I don't think the nice people at MG's have any real understanding of what a Caesar salad rap should be. I seems that MG's style is take one somewhat stale Mexican tortilla and fill with a little shredded iceberg and some of that really nasty cheap watery chicken the comes in pre cut cubes from Holland! Then they shove on some dodgy dressing, which I think is meant to be Cesar but really dose not taste like it. This is all wrapped up rather sloppily without even the wrap being cut into two.
They make a big thing out of being a locally owned café and using mostly locally produced foods. But not chicken it seems! The staff seem nice though...

Well I don't know who wrote the comment below but they have a serious problem. MG's is a friendly place, with lovely staff (including the management), who are definitely NOT arrogant. See for yourself and don't listen to what someone who obviously has a grudge as the one and only opinion!

Awful! Dont go there it's so expensive and the managers are so arrogant! Costa across the road a much better bet!
