Constitution Hill
Situated at the northern end of the promenade, Constitution Hill reaches 430 feet in to the sky, making it a magnificent viewpoint from which you have an unrivalled view of the town and surrounding area. On clear days it is possible to see one hundred miles of coastline, including the Llyn Peninsula and even Snowdon. The top of the hill is also home to the Y Consti café / restaurant.
The Cliff Railway
Unmissable for any visitor to Aberystwyth, the Cliff Railway will carry you all the way to the top of the Constitution Hill. As you progress up the hill at a leisurely four miles an hour, a great view of the town and the bay is gradually revealed to you. Opened to the public in 1896, this is also Britain's longest electric cliff railway, with a total length of 778 feet.
The Camera Obscura
At the very top of Constitution Hill sits the camera obscura. Inside, you can take turns to manoeuvre the fourteen inch lens which reflects an all-round view of the town and over one thousand square miles of the surrounding countryside on to the viewing gallery screen. There is also a presentation of the history of the area and a gift shop. The Camera Obscura charges a modest admission fee to adults, but is free for children.
You can also climb over Consti and take a pleasant coastal walk.
Trains depart every few minutes during the summer. The railway and camera obscura are closed during the winter.
