"First visted Gannets ten years ago when our daughter started at the University and we've been back many, many times since (our daughter now lives in Aber). It is without doubt our favourite Aber restaurant, serving consistently good, simple food, with decent sized portions, a lovely cosy atmosphere and very friendly service. All in all excellent value for money and highly recommended." - Stephen & Joanne, Glazebrook, Warrington [Apr 2008]
"Have eaten in Gannets since they opened, never had a poor meal, the welcome is wonderful and the food consistently good." - Awena, Machynlleth [Dec 2007]
"Not so nice! They do not allow it if you only order a starter with a nice glass of wine. They want to make big money!" - Annette Strauch, Machynlleth & Germany [Oct 2007]
"There is no mistake this is the worse meal I have ever eaten... Lamb shank - they have no idea what it is. My friend's duck was just burnt, all served with a brown thick gluten type of liquid." - Susan Ordan [Oct 2007]
"Have been going to Gannets for 7 years now. Can't recommend it highly enough. Excellent food and service and a definite highlight of any trip to Aberystwyth. Outstanding value and a welcome break from the homogenised faceless haunts that we now find in so many cities." - Michael and Adam [Jul 2007]
"Party of 9 thrown out by cook because 2 ladies only wanted starters and sweets." - E Heyes [May 2007]
"Remember the 60s when all bistros had French cafe curtains and a bit of garlic was all that was needed to turn boiled veg into French cuisine? Then go to Gannets for a trip down memory lane!" - Colin [Apr 2007]
"Having been regular visitors to Gannets for around 15 years, we cannot understand the negative comments. We have always found the food and service first class with value second to none. Judging from the regular customers that we see at Gannets, we are far from alone in our opinion." - David & Lyn Towers [Apr 2007]

"Group of 16 of us went there. Food was fantastic, all different selections of the menu was delicious and food and service absolutely excellent. Thanks to all for a brilliant evening. Lovely warm welcome and very pleasant staff. Highly recommended." - Crymych Gang [Jan 2007]
"Oh dear, after many recommedations finally tried this place and it was terrible. Garlic mushrooms came complete with chicken bones, the sauce with all the main meals was a brown sludge with different tinned fruit in it depending on the dish and the service was slow and unfriendly. Never again." - Emily Sprocket [Jan 2007]
"Steak was tough as a boot and the veg looked as if it had been scraped off the kitchen floor, my partner choose one of the limited vegetarian options which looked as if it had come from a packet. Great friendly service however." - George [Oct 2006]
"I've never known somewhere to be closed for 'refurbishments' as much. Why not just say 'on holiday'?" - Gwenlli [Sep 2006]
"Always superb food. Recommend it to everybody." - Terence Mills, Willenhall [May 2006]
"Toughest steak I've ever tried to eat. Disappointing." - David [Jan 2006]
"David and Dilys provide fantastic home cooked food and I would question anyone that didn't enjoy their meal. The atmosphere is cosy, food fantastic and service perfect. Whilst living in Aber several years ago, Gannets was a common haunt of mine and even now I would travel the distance for the food." - Terry, Essex [May 2005]
"Friendly atmosphere, well-priced meals and consistently good food with large portions. Main meal menu is small though and could do with updating." - Wayne, Aberystwyth [Mar 2005]
"Good atmosphere and tasty food. Helpful with arranging parties but can be a bit cramped on the weekend - totally worth it though :-) A+" - Craig M
"Best steak you'll get in Aber. Portions are good and very very tasty. Relaxed atmosphere and good service." - Adam
"We went there as it was recommended by a friend but found the food disappointingly dull and tasteless, the surroundings cramped, and the service less than brilliant. All in all a serious anti-climax!" - Bond
"Extremely tasty food, with a good level of service. The perfect surrounding for a good night out. No rush to leave, and a very high awareness of customer services. Highly recommended to anyone." - Anon
