Very hit and miss, particular with the rice. Sometimes brilliant and very reasonably prices - sometimes God awful. Stopped going since we ordered rice that tasted of cigarette ash that we can only presume was dropped into the rice vat.

Bit dubious when I read the bad reviews but I think it has now been taken over. The take away menu is extensive with good deals being offered on a Monday and Thursday (£10 for 3 mains and 2 free egg fried rice and prawn crackers). I mean, you can't go wrong really can you! And I really enjoy the food there. As for the restaurant, well we had a fantastic meal there. Service was fab, food was fab and they are also doing an eat as much as you want option which is cooked to order so it doesn't feel like you're in a canteen as with other buffets!!! Yes it is a bit quiet but I think they are trying to build up the business hence the good food deals! I'd recommend this restaurant and take away to anyone. It really is worth a try.

Surprised to see these bad reviews. A group of us went for the "all you can eat" buffet in the upstairs restaurant (£14 a head) which was, on the whole, rather good and certainly way better than the other establishment on Pier Street. I liked the squid and honey roast ribs. Service was attentive. Solid rather than stellar, this place is good for Aber and we will definitely visit again.

Our takeaway meal from here was dire. Deep fried things were foul as oil they'd been cooked in was really old and it just was inedible really. The stirfry type dishes were made of old veges covered in a bland cornstarch gloop. Would not eat food from here again if somebody paid me!

The quality of the Honoured Guest has hit rock bottom lately. The shabby state of the downstairs takeaway room should tell you all you need to know. They still have Christmas decorations up in April too. There is little meat in the sweet and sour chicken and the crispy duck is shredded into such tiny pieces it's hard to eat and you have watch out for bone fragments.

This place must have really gone down hill since these reviews were put on here. We went on a Sunday night, it was empty! There was awful piano music on loop. Had a drink in a glass that had a crack through it, then we had Yuk Sung and Crispy Duck that were ok but didn't understand the bones of the duck still being on the plate? Then had a slizzing meal with rice and noddles both of which had been reheated in the microwave! Felt extremely ill after and all the next day. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Thought it was just VERY expensive way to get food poisoning.

Food was very nice and there was a lot of it so neither of us finished our meals. The restaurant is in a big room so even though there were two large parties of people eating, it didn't feel crowded at all. The waitress was lovely and I got a chance to try out my Mandarin.
