Long-established and cosy little Italian restaurant.

"I'm not a fan of this place. Food ranges from OK to not-so-OK. Feels cramped inside. A bit over-rated I think as it's the only Italian Aber has." - Emma W, London [May 2008]
"A friendly restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere and great food." - Charles [Mar 2008]
"An absolute mystery to me. The food is OK but the service is dire. The diners are treated as if they're an unnecesary inconvenience - yet the place is always full. Needs another Italian restaurant in Aber to give it some competition." - John Peters, Birmingham [Feb 2008]
"The mussels are amazing and the staff are warm and friendly; I'd reccommend it everytime." - Anon [Feb 2008]
"This is not Italian food! An over-priced place to eat with terrible food, wine and service - Italians would never do it this way! Simply awful." - Clare Bamford, Hereford [Jan 2008]
"Went on sunday, waitress very rude, food was lukewarm and tasteless, service was useless, lots of new staff needed." - Mrs Rees [Oct 2007]
"Nice setting, great menu and generous portions - also very busy for a Monday night, which should be a good sign. We started by sharing some cheesy garlic bread and olives - no problem there. However, the main courses received mixed reactions - two of us thoroughly enjoyed them, the other two didn't. One chicken breast was pink in the middle, so went uneaten (they deducted it from the bill, after initially suggesting that the lighting was too dim to tell what colour it was!). The Tiramisu was definitely the worst we had ever eaten - absolutely dreadful; stodgy and tasteless. Service slow and not particularly friendly. Shan't rush back." - Mark Brown, Cardiff [Aug 2007]
"Very slow service - garlic bread with cheese took 30 minutes. Good quality veg, and nice soft pasta while sauce was 'good for Britain' (says American girlfriend). Avoid the Sicilian chicken unless you like your bacon very salty though. The decor is charming, but can feel pretty crowded. This probably wasn't helped by the fact that despite making a booking and turning up on time, we were made to stand for 5 minutes while they prepared our table." - Huw and Kathryn [Aug 2007]

"We had a fantastic time when we dined here last week. The food was delicious and the staff are friendly and approchable. Thankyou." - Lucie [Aug 2007]
"My partner and I had a most enjoyable birthday dinner at this welcoming restaurant. The menu is mouthwatering and the dessert was yummy, my surprise cake made our evening. Thankyou - we will see you again." - Mike and Jacqui [Mar 2007]
"We dined at Little Italy and had the most enjoyable meal we have had in Aberystwyth. The lasagne had the right combination of pasta, meat and sauce and the duck was superb. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming with friendly attentive staff and what can we say about the wine list, the rioja was out this world! We certainly will be making a return visit." - Emma Waine [Feb 2007]
"I'm somewhat at a loss as to what Italy it is that they refer to here. Duck was dry, pizza base was thick and dry, spag-bol was watery (but hey, they wouldn\'t serve that in Italy anyway), vege lasagne contained chewy pasta and a few peas and carrots with masses of bland cheese sauce. Again, which Italy? Plus they bring the wine to the table already opened(?)." - Paulo [Jan 2007]
"Really disappointing food - canneloni was a huge plate of cheesy stodge that was really hard going. Tiramasu tasted like it had been made a week before." - Fred Edwards [Jan 2007]
"Not the classiest place in Aber, but the food is good and reasonably priced. Eaten there 8 times and had only one complaint in that time: the service was a little slow." - Sid the Sloth [Oct 2006]
"Visited on a quiet saturday lunchtime. Food very tasty, but lasagne was swimming like a bowl of soup, I don't know how they did it!" - Brian, Wirral [Sep 2006]
"Good, tasty food; good, friendly service and atmosphere; reasonably-priced. First visit - will definitely visit again." - Simon and Phillipa [Jul 2006]
"Good Service but disappointing food - my lasagne was bland." - Abi [Jun 2006]
"Looks the bill, inside and out. Interiors charming, old-fashioned trattoria/bistro style, can be very cramped and somewhat noisy. Service slow and erratic, some waiting staff rather unknowledgeable. Starters were so-so, humdrum and unexceptional to be frank. But my partner's seafood linguini was admirably full of seafood... only it was the sort of mixed seafood you get in a bag from the freezer at cash 'n' carry, so poor. My dish of taglietelle with beef in cream sauce was just awful. Swimming in a thin cream sauce which even then was over-thickened with too much corn starch and too little real content. Was like soup with noodles. Not finished. However, they had a fantastic bottle of Bordeaux for around £17, which we'd have happily paid £25+ for." - Dean & Pai [May 2006]
"Had a great time with my mates - really fab food and service; tiramisu exceptional." - Janet, Aberystwyth [Apr 2006]
"Terrible risotto, great service." - Anon [Apr 2006]
"Fantastic and tasty food, great service and great value for money! Will keep returning." - Annabelle [Mar 2006]
"Food is excellent, but evening ruined by very slow service." - Ceri [Feb 2006]
"A well run restaurant! Staff friendly! Food excellent! Will definitely be visiting again!" - Catherine, Salisbury [Jul 2005]
"Everything we tried was excellent. The food has a lot of flavour and the menu has a lot of various options. Would definitely make this restaurant our favourite in Aberystwyth." - Gerry, Philadelphia [Apr 2005]
"Decent enough the first time for a nice little first date, though the Valentine's Day return suffered from a very poor beef cannelonni. Cosy, intimate, newspaper on the roof, what more do you need?" - Red, Aber [Apr 2005]
"Always go here to eat out in Aberystwyth. Food is lovely, with good vegetarian options. Drinks are a little expensive, however." - Julie
"Nice and intimate, very relaxed and great food. Perhaps could do with a bit more on the veggie side of things. Not cheap but worth every penny." - Penny
"Fantastic food, and service. Went there with large group of friends during busy time of year and they managed to accomodate for around 20 of us at one sitting. Food is piping hot offering interesting combinations. Friendly staff, and helpful manager. However, a rather disappointing Tiramisu." - Anon
"I have been several times and have always found the food good and the staff helpful, and reasonably priced too." - Helen
"Gorgeous food, decent sized portions and pretty cheap as well as in a cosy atmosphere." - Claire

We eventually sat our table and ordered our starters and mains. When the food arrived it was very mediocre. The menu had lots of choice, far too much for them to possibly have fresh ingredients for all the dishes in my opinion, which seemed to be the case in the dishes we ordered.
The service was very poor when it came to pay the bill, I handed over my card which was put into the card machine, when it was handed back to me I was then asked to enter my pin, no big surprises there! The surprise came when there was no amount for me to confirm or see, I asked what amount was put in the machine and this when the waitress became somewhat annoyed! She stated that it was for the amount on the bill, I was made to feel very uncomfortable in the fact that I was blindly authorising a payment. The receipt did show the correct amount but I feel that the blind authorisation is a very poor customer experience.
Overall I think that if you are looking for Italian food that is cooked authentically, with fresh ingredients this is not really the place for you
