- "Outstanding, and quite staggeringly so for Aberystwyth. It's not a huge place, but the tables are well space to allow for reasonable intimacy and privacy. We had starters that were as excellent, as one would expect for the price, but not truly outstanding. Nothing to complain about, but nothing to shout about. Great wine list at truly cheap prices - Ch. Haut-Bages Averous 1990 for under £40 and a half bottle of white burgundy for under �12. Both were sensational. But we were absolutely blown away by the mains. My sirloin (can it have been sirloin rather than fillet), was truly meltingly tender, and far and away the best I've had in the UK in living memory. My partner's duck was impeccable, the dessert also excellent. And the bill for all this lavishness? �101 for two. Too cheap, we say. So, don't think this restaurant is expensive - for the quality, it's positively good value. We will, of course, be back.
